QUALIFICATIONS

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Successful completion of Background, MVR and DFWP screenings.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

RN or LPN license, State of Florida. Three to five years Psychiatric nursing experience preferred. Working knowledge of Florida rules and statutes pertaining to nursing, mental health, and substance abuse treatment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

RN or LPN licensure, CPR certification/ First Aid and Safety training, and trained in de-escalation.

SUMMARY

To assist psychiatrist and psychiatric APRN in the management and treatment planning of all agency consumers who require such services. Supervision, training, and evaluations of nursing and other medical support staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Manages daily operations of departmental program.

2. Provides supervision, training and evaluation of staff nurses and medical support staff.

3. Performs daily documentation of client services electronically as indicated.

4. Reviews scheduled provider appointments daily and schedules appointments as necessary; initiates and follows through on provider orders including documentation of such activities in the electronic medical record.

5. Communicates with psychiatrist(s), psychiatric APRN's, case managers, and the behavioral health staff on client's mental health status.

6. Prepares paperwork, documents and conducts urine drug screens for employee COC random screens, COC applicant screens, as well as physician ordered screens. Maintains confidentiality on COC employee screening and reporting to Medical Director for review and signature.

7. Ensures client safety and confidentiality at all times.

8. Maintains accurate samples and IDP inventory count.

9. Completes Quality Improvement activities as assigned (Quality Record Review, monthly reports, and Quality Record review of charts).

10. Participates as a Team Leader and contributes to the enhancement of the department and the agency.

11. Maintains working knowledge of Florida statutes and rules including 65D30, nurse practice act, and Florida rules pertaining to mental health and substance abuse treatment.

12. Performs other duties as assigned/required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision of staff nurses and/or medical support staff and daily operations of medication management department.
