Behavioral Health Counselor - Drop In Center

SUMMARY

Assist in the provision of rehabilitation services, including educational activities, rehabilitation, and care services designed to develop, maintain, or restore the skills necessary to allow the consumer to function successfully in the community.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid driver's license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with daily operations of the program.
  • Establishes treatment plans in the recipient's electronic health records and develops methods for recipients to reach goals.
  • Conducts treatment plan reviews quarterly in combination with a DLA-20, ASAM continued stay and state outcomes document
  • Provides skill training in accordance with the recipient's treatment plan focused on restoration of basic living skills and social skills.   
  • Ensures that progress notes are entered into the recipient's electronic health record daily and reflects progress relative to treatment plan goals.
  • Facilitates groups designed to meet social, educational, skill building and therapeutic needs of the recipients.
  • Maintains a safe therapeutic environment for consumers.
  • Maintains daily consumer attendance records.
  • Participates as a team member and contributes to the enhancement of the department and the agency. Works with all individuals, employees, and supervisors in a cooperative manner and treats them with dignity and respect.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required.

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
